Opening New Tabs For Each Window
If using a Windows based PC, To stop Google Chrome opening multiple new windows you will need to alter your a registry setting.
We strongly recommend before making any changes to your registry settings you make a backup of your registry.
This is critical. There are plenty of tools to do this with - if you are unsure about this we recommend you get your IT support people to make these changes.
To stop Chrome opening new windows, open regedit and:
- Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http\shell\open\command
- You should see one key, named (Default). Double click this to get an editing popup.
- At the end of the Value data: field you should see the text -- "%1". Change this to --new-window "%1".
