Throughout Empower there are a small number of characters that are not allowed - this is due to the computer language that Empower is written in.

As a result we recommend not using the following characters

? : ; @ * ! & = # - + / \ ^ < > ' " [ ] ( ) | % { } 

Using these characters in a name (eg a Customer or a Product or a Process Name) may result in unexpected errors or results, particularly in calculating or viewing the Schedules.

This includes any data imported into Empower through the various data import wizards or via the APIs.

 
In addition, we have found that Viewing the Schedule either runs very slowly (or not at all) where the first letter of a Product Name or a Job number is a Space.  As a result we also recommend not placing a space in front of these.
